Provided you have gym mebership for Westwood, their pool are a great option in Dublin. If you are not a member, you will need to come as a guest and pay excessive 25 Euros for a dive. Westwood has 3 gym locations that include pools in Dublin: Clontarf, Leopardstown and Sandymount. They are very different: wheras Clontarf provides a sporty 50 m pool, Sandymount has a more relaxing style "splash" pool with warm salt water and bubbles. Leopardtown offers a 25 m and a 10 m pool.

With Clontarf, Westwood has the only 50 m pool apart from NAC. However, the pool is not as deep, you can touch the bottom without getting your head under water. If you don't need that depth however, it is a great pool to swim in. Even in the evenings it's not particularly busy, open late and quite in a good condition.

There is a sauna, steam bath and whirl pool attached as well, which is great. Unfortunately the sauna area is quite crowded sometimes in the evenings and not particularly relaxing.

Again, Westwood gym is one of those places where you will need a locker to lock things up and a swimming hat to access the pool. Both can be purchased at reception for 5 Euro or something each (which is quite overpriced).

While not comparable to a good German "Therme", I was once in Westwood Leisure Center in Clontarf, and they had a normal sauna, a large whirl-pool, a freezing cold plunge pool (Tauchbecken), a Turkish steam room and one other sauna-related thingy as far as I can remember. They also have a swimming pool, all pretty nice really. I dont know how the accessibility is for non-members or what the package prices are like (I had a squash league match there on the day).

I also know the one in Westwood but would not recommend it. Things are broken, people talk loud in the sauna and the steam room is not clean.

I'm actually pretty happy with the Westwood leisure facilities, so perhaps it has improved since you were there. I do tend to go in the morning when it's quiet, so I haven't noticed much talking in the sauna (it's frequently just me and an old lady), the steam room has been fine, and there hasn't been anything broken that I can remember (other than a brief period when they were doing some repairs to the plunge pool).

That said, I'm a member in Westwood for the pool (which is excellent), so the sauna/spa wouldn't be my main "draw" for the place.

I'll also recommend the pool in the Westwood fitness centre in Clontarf. It's not very near to my office, but it's very easy to get to on the DART. 50m pool (so you're not turning round all the time) plus spa area with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, plunge pool, etc. You do have to pay a subscription (plus joining fee) rather than pay-as-you-go, and it's not particularly cheap, but you also get use of a big gym, climbing wall, and classes. If you go there at least twice a week it works out as cheap as or cheaper than the Marciewicz.

I add the caveat that I live right next to it and tend to use it in the mornings and at weekends (which also means I can pay a cheaper off-peak membership), so I've no idea how busy it gets in the evenings.'

The pool isn't particularly busy in the evenings. The gym is busy, but there is always plenty of space and no queues on the equipment. Mondays and Tuesdays are the busiest evenings, then it gets quieter as the week progresses.
