Name: Famine
Nickname: would definately be inappropriate
Where: Custom House Quay
Coordinates: 53.348;-6.2499Latitude: 53°20′52.8″N
Longitude: 6°14′59.64″W

Inauguration date: 29th May 1997
Sculptor: Rowan Gillespie
Story: This really imposing statue on the North banks of The Liffey consists of seven men and women and a dog. All are obviously marked by starvation. One is carring another man. The statues evoke Giacomettis wiry artwork but are put it in front of a whole new background. The people in this statue don't think anymore, they just slowly move forward, more dead than alive, more ghost than human. Even while they are at the same level as people passing by today, the figures seem to be far away in a different time and dimension. Try to catch their eyes ...
