Dublin/Toll

Tunnel

Depending on time and day, a car would be charged between €3 and €6 to pass the Dublin port tunnel.

The tunnel is very useful when traffic is busy and you want to avoid the northern part of Dublin city to go to the airport or to the port.

M50

Sometimes on the M50, you will be required to pay a toll fee. Non-registered cars are charged 3 Euro.

Be careful to pay as soon as possible to avoid an expensive 40 to 100 Euro penalty fee.

As the eflow system has been installed only very recently (October 2008), there are no significant numbers yet on how efficient the intake is. The Independant recently cited that up to 5.000 motorists a day using the M50 are failing to pay the toll. Official numbers yet to be due.

Car rentals

It depends on the car renting company whether you'll be required to pay the fee or not and how. It is advisable to ask before you rent the car.

Cars with foreign registration

It is doubtable that the system will work properly for cars registered outside of Ireland. However, theoretically, they are concerned in exactly the same way than locals are.

Waste charges

Green bins are free, but for normal waste there is a fee.
