Dublin - The best places to live
Where's the best neighbourhood to live in Dublin?
It's hard to know - especially when you are not Irish and need to find somewhere really fast. The problem is that you could end up somewhere that is not so nice.
Traditionally, south of the river (the 'southside') is considered better than north of the river (the 'northside'). But this is changing. Many places on the northside are being gentrified.
The most expensive areas (from North to South) are:
- Malahide
- Howth
- Drumcondra
- Clontarf
- Docklands
- Anywhere in South Inner City (Dublin 2)
- Anywhere in Dublin 4 (Ballsbridge, Donnybrook)
- Killiney
- Dalkey
- Foxrock
Most renting by students and young professionals happens in Ranelagh, Rathgar and Rathmines (all in Dublin 6).
There are some useful websites that can help you find a place. These are:
- www.daft.ie: A property and renting website.
- www.myhome.ie: A property and renting website.
- www.likeplace.ie: A website where people can rate Dublin neighbourhoods based on local facilities, crime, cost of living, etc.
