Dublin/Advertising
Outdoor advertising
Compared to many other cities, there is no or little outdoor billboard advertising in Dublin. It can be found around public transport: on bus, LUAS, DART stations and pasted on the back of double decker buses. You might not realise it, but those huge billboards on highways are just not existant in Dublin!
In Dublin, temporary permission is usually given to an advertiser for three years and once a billboard is in place for more than seven years, it is past the statute of limitations. The Council rarely takes enforcement action or forces a reapplication when the three year period lapses, and this has allowed a massive amount of unauthorised advertising to remain in place around the city.
There are however other creative ways that things are advertised in Dublin. A recent example is the car showroom in Alto Vetro tower apartment block.

Maybe your next job?
Human billboards are seen frequently in the streets of Dublin. It must be a boring job! How much do people get for sitting/standing around with an advertising board?
