As Dresden is wide spread and has much space to offer, there is generally cycle paths and bicycle parking facilities everywhere. You can easily use your bike. However, from an area point of view, Dresden is large and it can take you more than 1 hour to get from A to B without being stuck in traffic jam but just because distances are long in Dresden. The good thing is, that you have the option to bring your bike on public transport for a supplement. New buses and trams all have easy access and even space provided for bicycles.

The second issue in Dresden might be multi lane roads that are very common in this city. It might make you feel uncomfortable from time to time. Bicycles are not always allowed on those highways and you should take these reglementations very seriously. Dresden drivers are not used to share the speady road with cyclists. It it advised to stick to the cycle lanes provided.

And there is a third downer in this city: it is quite hilly! Depending on where you cycle, it can get quite exhausting. But don't worry, as long as you stay along the river Elbe, you are totally fine.
